Red meat: Bobby Jindal is an anchor baby

Lately, the letters to the Editor as well as the comments in the on-line version of the LA Times have featured crap from the usual anti-immigrant pendejos.

Last night, while giving the GOP response, Bobby Jindal, in an attempt to present himself as a hard-working Amurrican, told a tale about how his mother arrived in the US while pregnant with him, proceeded to get an installment-plan to pay for his delivery, and his father went through the yellow pages looking for a job to make the payments. It looked to me like a clear sob-story play.

Then I started thinking, they got here in the early 70s. Back then, it was harder than hell to get into the US and pull that stunt legally. What? Do you think that a couple with a pregnant wife is going to be given a visa for the states and then allow them to work immediately? Not unless they carried bundles of cash and Jindal clearly said they didn't.

So how did they do it? According to published newspapers articles, Jindal's mother came as a graduate student to LSU. His father was already "an assistant professor at a Chandigarh engineering college" (he has an engineering degree, which is all that was necessary to be a prof in India at that time) and his mother was a student in the nuclear physics program at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Chandigarh. That explains the reason why she was offered the position at LSU. So they came here with F-1 (student) and F-2 (student relative) visas, which did not entitled him to work. Yet, he went out and got a job, which I bet was not pushing a janitor's cart or washing dishes, through the yellow pages?

But here is the kicker: Jindal's wikipedia page says that both of Jindal's parents took the oath of citizenship within one year after his birth. Either the wikipedia page is crap (possible!) or something is seriously wrong here because you cannot become a citizen unless you've been in country for five years and held a green card during those years.

Let's say that the wikipedia editors got it wrong and it was the green card that was issued to them at that time. The conditions on F visas did not allow a student to change status unless they marry a US citizen/resident or, apparently, have a child born in the US. If so, then Bobby Jindal is an anchor baby and his parents must have broken the conditions of their visa in order to pay for his delivery.

Of course, you won't see this anywhere in wingnut blogs. Jindal is their SOB. Instead, they talk about how Obama is not a US-born citizen and how he is a master hypnotist. What? do you think I am making this shit up? Go here or take a look at this:

This shit is old, so how come it did not get more play before the election?
